It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of commitment that I extend my warmest greetings to you. My name is Sophia Parande, and I am honored to serve as your principal. With over a decade of dedicated service to Amani Public Charter School, my journey began as a teacher Interim Principal, Sophia Parandeassistant during graduate school, and I have since had the privilege of transitioning through various roles, including special education teacher, math teacher, intervention specialist, and MTSS coordinator.

Committed to the vision of ridiculously great teaching, rigorous instruction, and a strong school culture, I bring a wealth of experience and a profound understanding of the Amani community. Equipped with dual Master of Science degrees in Education and Special Education from Mercy College, as well as Educational Leadership and Administration from The College of Saint Rose, I am passionate about contributing to the success and growth of our school.

I stand as an educational leader who firmly believes that all children can learn, emphasizing the importance of addressing the holistic needs of each student. My commitment extends to fostering a comprehensive learning environment, where educators are equipped with a profound understanding of diverse learning styles.

Having lived in Mount Vernon for over 20 years and graduated from the local school district, I am deeply rooted in the community. Choosing to serve in the city where I reside reflects my strong connection to local families and a resolute commitment to steering Amani Public Charter School toward continued academic excellence and holistic student development.

I am excited about the journey ahead and look forward to partnering with you all in creating an environment where every scholar can thrive.

Educationally yours,
