Important Dates

| March 31, 2026 | Applications received on or before March 31, 2026 are eligible for Amani's enrollment lottery. Amani has a lottery for each grade in which the total number of applications is greater than the number of seats available. |
| April 13, 2026 |
On Monday, April 13, 2026, Amani conducted a lottery for grades K, 1, 2, 7, and 8. This means a random number was assigned to each application received on or before March 31, 2026.
Applications for grades 5 and 6 received on or before March 31, 2026 have been accepted. A lottery is not needed for grades 5 and 6. The lottery assignment was conducted in public view and live on YouTube. You can watch the playback here: Watch the Lottery on YouTube |
| April 15, 2026 (4 PM – 6 PM) |
On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 4 PM until 6 PM, Amani offers on-the-spot registration for parents of students who applied to grades 5 and 6. This event is also a chance for parents who have not yet applied to tour the school.
This is NOT a mandatory event. It is being offered as a convenient way to complete the registration process for parents of incoming 5th and 6th graders. It is ALSO an Open House event for parents new to Amani. |
| April 17, 2026 | On Friday, April 17, 2026, parents who applied for grades K, 1, 2, 7, and 8 will receive an email from SchoolMint stating whether their student is either ACCEPTED or placed on a WAITING LIST. If a student is accepted, then their parent may follow the link in that email to confirm the acceptance. |

| What do I do next? | If you receive an acceptance email, please use the link in the message to confirm your acceptance. If you have confirmed acceptance, the Registrar may contact you for additional information and paperwork. If your child is on a waitlist, either wait for an update from the Registrar, or reach out for a status directly: registrar@amanicharter.org. |
| If my child is on a waitlist, can I still be accepted later? | It is possible, because things change fast as parents make their final decisions, so don't give up. Please keep in touch with registrar@amanicharter.org. |
| If I applied on April 1 or later, what happens? |
For grades K, 1, 2, 7, and 8: These applications will go on a waitlist by grade, and students are then accepted in order, subject to the same priorities as the lottery.
For grades 5 and 6, there are still openings as of April 2026. These applications will be accepted as they arrive, until grades 5 and 6 are at capacity, and then any additional applications will be placed on a waitlist for these grades. |

Dear Parent or Guardian,
Thank you for applying to Amani Public Charter School for the 2026–27 school year. We are grateful for your trust in our community and excited about every family that has expressed interest in joining us.
We have an important update to share regarding next steps for your child’s application.
FOR FAMILIES APPLYING TO 5TH OR 6TH GRADE
We are pleased to inform you that all applicants for 5th and 6th grade have been admitted – no lottery required. Congratulations! We are so glad your child will be joining the Amani family.
FOR FAMILIES APPLYING TO ALL OTHER GRADES
Our live lottery drawing will be held Monday, April 13, 2026 at 9am, at 60 S. 3rd Avenue, Mt. Vernon, NY. You are not required to attend, but can watch at: https://youtube.com/live/wNXd7ymW270?feature=share
All eligible applications in grades K,1,2,7 & 8 submitted by the deadline of March 31, 2026 will be entered into the lottery by grade. Results will be shared with families shortly after the lottery is complete. You will be notified by email if you are accepted or added to the waitlist.
FOR ACCEPTED STUDENTS – REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Shortly after the lottery, we will email an acceptance letter with registration information to those students that were accepted into our school.
You will be able to register online and we are also hosting in-person registration events on:
Wednesday, April 15, 2026 – 4pm – 6pm
Saturday, April 25, 2026 – 10am – 1pm
We want to make registration as convenient as possible.
